Les Nubians no Brasil

A dupla Les Nubians, formada pelas irmãs franco-camaroneses Hélène e Célia Faussart, literalmente levantou o público que esteve presente ao SESC Pinheiros, em São Paulo nos dias 06 e 07 para acompanhar o primeiro show do grupo no Brasil. Demonstrando muita simpatia e desenvoltura, tentavam falar com a plateia em português a maior parte do tempo e, a partir da segunda metade do show, convidaram todos a se levantar e se aproximarem do palco - no que foram prontamente atendidas, sob muitos aplausos. A partir desse momento, passaram a interagir e dançar com o público durante todo o concerto. A dupla ainda se apresenta no dia 7 de outubro antes de regressar à França.

No palco, cantaram alguns dos principais sucessos de seus três primeiros discos além de duas composições inéditas - uma delas, “Liberté”, é uma homenagem ao presidente dos Estados Unidos Barack Obama. Especialmente para o público brasileiro, cantaram “Mas Que Nada”, de Jorge Ben Jor. Além das irmãs, o grupo é composto pelo guitarrista Jean Bguena, o “Djamba”, e pelo tecladista Nicolas Liesnard. No baixo, bateria e percussão, a dupla foi acompanhada pelo grupo brasileiro Moleque de Rua, que deu um tom ainda mais brasileiro ao estilo multicultural do grupo.

Antes da apresentação no SESC, Hélène e Célia passaram três semanas no Brasil, em três cidades, onde realizaram diversas oficinas de música em regiões pobres. Em Campinas, cantaram com idosos na Casa de Cultura Tainá. Em São Paulo, com crianças em Vila Heliópolis. E em Olinda, na Casa da Ribeira, com os grupos Nação Xambá e Majê Molê. Essas atividades foram organizadas em parceria com o projeto Quitutes e Batuques.

Após o show, o grupo interagiu com o público em uma sessão de autógrafos e concedeu uma entrevista exclusiva, na qual se disseram encantadas com a experiência em terras brasileiras. “Ganhamos muito com esse espetáculo. Em primeiro, porque pudemos descobrir quem é o nosso público. Foi a primeira vez que pudemos ter algum contato direto, olho no olho com eles. E, como você viu, interagimos no palco e, depois, nos abraçamos, assinamos autógrafos, foi mágico. E outra experiência importante foi que pudemos misturar uma parte de nosso grupo francês com uma parte do grupo Moleque de Rua”, disse Hélène. “Com isso, conseguimos combinar nosso estilo com as diferentes percussões brasileiras. E a sensibilidade do público fez com que eles rapidamente se identificassem. Foram realmente grandes momentos e esperamos poder voltar logo para cá”, complementou Célia.

Segundo Hélène, a experiência no Brasil foi mágica e ultrapassou todas as expectativas que faziam do país. “Há um país que é criado no imaginário das pessoas, da música, da praia, Rio de Janeiro. Não fomos ao Rio, mas pudemos conhecer Campinas, São Paulo e Olinda. Foi uma grande aventura para nós, na qual pudemos encontrar essa multiplicidade - um mundo! E ver também como a cultura africana foi preservada por aqui”.

Sobre as oficinas, Célia contou como foi a experiência de lidar com públicos diferentes: “Em Campinas, por exemplo, trabalhamos com idosos e deficientes. Cantamos e partilhamos cantos africanos. Em Heliópolis foi com crianças. E nos cantaram uma música de ninar para nós - em francês!”, contou, emocionada.

O guitarrista gabonês Djamba se mostrou tocado com a receptividade do público brasileiro. “Foi espetacular, uma experiência que nos enriqueceu. O show de hoje foi fruto de três semanas de trabalho com o grupo Moleque de Rua. Tivemos a oportunidade de misturar as culturas brasileiras e africanas existentes no Brasil. Encontrar essa mistura cultural aqui nos tocou o coração”.

Por sua vez, o público presente no SESC era formado por fãs de longa data das artistas. “Foi muito bom. O que mais gostei foi o encontro delas com a plateia, delas se jogarem no português e se comunicarem com a gente. Quando elas chamaram, em português, as pessoas para ficarem ao lado delas foi demais, a vibe do show estava toda aí”, disse Nana Shakour, assistente social. Para o analista João Paulo Xavier, que ficou sabendo do show na última hora, o show ultrapassou as expectativas. “O pessoal é gente boa simpático pra caramba, a banda é perfeita e elas mandaram muito bem”.

Com um estilo que reflete grande sensibilidade e pluralismo cultural, devido, em parte, à vivência da dupla na França e em países africanos, elas misturam influências africanas e francesas, toques de jazz e rhythm and blues com letras em francês e influências do hip hop europeu e do novo pop africano.

Nascidas em Bordeaux, de pai francês e mãe camaronesa, mudaram-se para o Chade ainda crianças, onde viveram por sete anos, até voltarem adolescentes para a França. Começaram a cantar à capela, em covers de R&B, reggae e músicas africanas. Rapidamente, foram trabalhar como vocais em bandas e a apresentar um material original. O primeiro álbum da dupla, “Les Princesses Nubiennes” foi lançado em 1998, fazendo grande sucesso nos EUA. A discografia das irmãs inclui “One Step Forward”, de 2003 - indicado ao Grammy no ano seguinte - e “Echos”, de 2005.
